Replacement
In the event that an element is too damaged to repair, such as rot damaged windows, or has simply been lost over time, we are able to create a like for like replacement, matching even the smallest detail or intricate moulding to ensure that it fits back within its surroundings.​
The windows had suffered from wet rot. Rainwater had managed to get behind the paint line, tracking in behind loose putty, failed paintwork and where cables had been drilled through the framework. Attempts at remedying the problem resulted in various mastics and fillers being applied to the damaged areas. Over time they contributed to the damage, holding more moisture behind an impermeable later, resulting in the spread of the rot.
The original door and frame had long been discarded and had since been replaced with this six panel door.
We were approached by Crown Conservation to look at replacing an existing, but unfortunately damaged front door. The existing door had suffered severe rot with some sections being held together by the paint alone. These sections of mouldings above were salvaged from the original door in order to template for the new door.
